Cholla’s Braiding Channels
Cholla’s Braiding Channels
These earring designs are inspired by cholla skeletons & how the pattern has ‘movement’ to it. An apparent weave is revealed when the outer layers recede through the drying elements of sun, wind & the occasional rain. The cholla loses its painful spines & tough, protective outer layers.
The cholla skeleton looks like a braid of energy flowing under the coating of spines & cactus flesh.
That idea of losing layers points for me of how our own growth & healing unveils another kind of beauty & light. There is an ‘art’ to letting life apply its grist to ourselves to reveal more of our light.
Each earring is built from brass that I am weaving & braiding by hand, then, they are textured through a series of hammerings. I add more texturing through soldering sterling & gold-fill wire over the ends of the weavings that I have created.
Each pair purchased will be delivered to you in a muslin bag stamped with my logo & a care tag that includes the ‘ingredients’ for each piece.
